People look up to lawyers and judges because they’re intelligent. Imagine studying the law for four years and pass the bar exam! Also, fighting for the constitution must be really a heroic move.
Well, if you haven’t gone to the court, you’ll believe all those shiny- shimmering image that they portray. Especially if you’re a teenager or a 20-ish young blood that finds inspiration about where you’ll go or what you’ll be in the future. Older people know otherwise.
So I’m that 20-ish that used to admire lawyers and judges, heck I even wanted to become one. But then I was introduced into the court. Here’s what I found out about this so-called noble profession.
- They’re best friends – Like, they’re part of a “fraternity”. If you live in a state or a small town, ALL lawyers knew each other. They must have gone to the same law school. So if you’re a complainant or a defendant, don’t put too much trust on your lawyer because they might sell you up or prolong the case to make more money. You’ll be their milking cow. You believe that they’re gonna help you or defend you but it’s not the case here. They work for you because you pay them. And if the case was already done, so is the income, right? So don’t be surprised if your case will drag on for yearsssss just like the other cases we’ve seen on the news. It’s real. And it’s not because they lack evidence. It’s their plan. Heard about “reset”? That’s it. A lawyer told me about it. And this lawyer is facing disbarment charges right now. That’s another story so tune in.
- “Justice is served” is bullshit – Well, it’s not like the prosecutors or defense lawyers are the only one earning here. Even Judges. Judges have a regular salary but maybe it’s not enough to finance their lifestyle. There’s one Judge who wants $6000 just to “win” the case. Guess what? This Judge didn’t get what she wants so she dismissed the case. Lovely. So you think all the “winning cases, acquittal, and dismissals” are real? Think again. Unless you have a personal knowledge about it.
- “Innocent unless proven guilty” is another bullshit – One thing I liked about defense lawyers is that they believe in you. But… I never said that they’ll finish the case just like that. However, prosecutors and judges and even those who work in court like clerk of court, sheriff, messenger, etc. will judge you even if the case is not yet done. I mean, why do the hearings if from the start, you’ll already believe what the complainant say? So while the hearing is ongoing, you’ll live like a fucking criminal unless proven innocent.
- Judges are freaking power tripper – Especially to the poor. Did you heard about the self-confessed drug lords in the Philippines that magically become acquitted? That’s how money works. Because in a small city, I know someone who’s serving life sentence for drug possession. And that drug costs about $5. What a sweet sweet life for the poor.
- There are no secrets or confidentiality – Because even your own lawyer will tell anyone about your case. And if those people hate you, expect to see your name on the social media, berating you as a person as if it’s true.
- They’re cowards –Though they seem tough, but believe me when I say that they are cowards. They’re afraid of the authority and when I say authority, I mean the judges or officials that’s above them. They suck up to their “almighty” to save their asses even if it would hurt you. I know a lawyer who didn’t make a move when a client wants him to. It turns out that the client is fighting against corruption in the government but his lawyer is a freaking coward and stayed silent.
So what are we gonna do? I say, become rich so we can buy justice or avoid getting in trouble as much as possible so we don’t have to deal with them.
But seriously, why can’t they just live a noble life?
